The Thunder GU18's won the Barca Cup last weekend at the San Bernardino Complex. They played with several new players to offset the loss of their College-bound players. The team is in preparation for the prestigous NHB Cup at the end of August, which they last won in 2008. The girls are again playing at the Gold level for the upcoming 2010 fall season.
Playing their first tournament as a new team, the Cal Elite Girls Under 19 Soccer Team won the Championship of the California Cup with a 4-2 win over Lagunas GU19 Strickers.
The Thunder Boys U14 team won the Ventura County Fusion Invitational on August 14th and 15th. They beat Real So Cal Black 5-0, Ventura County Fusion 2-1, SAS Kickers 11-1. The team played VC Fusion Orange in the semifinals and won 3-2 in Penalty Kicks. Goalie David Garcia won the game by blocking all three penalty kicks! Palmdale Thunder went on to win the title by Oxnard United White 2-1.
The Thunder U15 girls concluded a summer of impressive tournament play by taking 2nd place at the Johnny Lopez Memorial Tournament in Moorpark this past weekend.
The girls opened by avenging their loss in State Cup to Ajax FC, beating them 3-0. They followed that with a 4-0 win over Moorpark Express. On Sunday, they tied Apex 0-0, which was good enough to get them into the finals. Matched up against the talented Valley United SC Stars, they came up short 3-0.
The team begins CSL play in 3 weeks.
