Wow, looks like he had a 5-Run home run too...
and struck out 31 in a single game! |

GRAPE APE, Give the Knight coach a break, he's new and probably doesn't know any better. It's not like the Knight coach didn't schedule any games the first two weeks of the season like the Highland coach didn't do. Is Highland still playing summer legion or something? And the Knight coach also didn't schedule a bunch of games [u]IN VEGAS[/u right before the start of league play like you know who. Oh, and a Monday game versus Paraclete two days before playing Quartz Hill in the league opener. Now I get it, you must like the Highland coach because you're a Quart Hill baseball fan and he's doing everything possible to make Highland lose against your Rebels come league play. I get it now GRAPE, and here we were thinking you were president of the Coach Mobley fan club.

What's up with the Golden league going 1-11 in tournaments this weekend? Lancaster had the only win, a 4-3 squeeker against a City section team. Is our league that weak this year or are we always over matched outside the valley? |

Yeah, against some city section team that was only a CIF Finalist last year.
Knight played Simi Valley (CIF Div. I champs in '08) Quartz Hill played Crespi (CIF Div. II champs in '09) Palmdale played West Ranch (Div. 1 team ranked in the LA Times top 25, and deserving of the ranking)
Every team in the Golden league opened with tough schedules. Losses happen when you play tough teams. You don't like losing to anyone, but as a measuring stick it's not the end of the world.

Sportsdad... or should we say "Dad of a Highland player not getting enough playing time"...
It looks as if the golden league lost to highly ranked D1 and D2 schools... remember, golden league is D3. You should be proud of the close scores (well... some of them) and the fact that the golden league is playing well against top tier teams in HIGHER divisions then trying to tear them down...
I mean, the golden league teams could schedule games against Cal City? |

You've got me there. Scheduling games against those teams is definitely a plus. And yes, scheduling games against Cal City probably won't serve as more than a glorified scrimmage, but at least they're tune-ups. What I don't understand is how a school can give the rest of the league a two week head start on the season by not scheduling ANYTHING the first two weeks. My benchwarmer son is getting tired of doing nothing at practice. At least against Cal City he might be able to pinch run in the top of the 5th inning right before the mercy rule kicks in, while your son feasts on glorified JV pitching, before his stats disappears when league starts. By the way, my son plays like a girl because she really is a girl on the softball team. What's your son's excuse? |

| I actually think that the AD does most of the scheduling for the high schools. I also think that the Highland coach got hired really late. I am guessing that he had nothing to do with scheduling Paraclete. I am curious Sportsdad09, why you are so mad at the Highland coach and Grape Ape who is sticking up for him? |

From what i have heard and said before what good has the highland coach done? He is a bad coach considering what he did to his little rock team, a good coach would have tried to win some more games other then quiting or maybe coached through it instead of quiting because he cant take losing or watching a varsity team lose 25 to 0 to qh.....
If the coach doesnt set up any of teh games then why is highland the only team that isnt playing any games.. you said he got picked late, whats late it was last year some time i know that and 5 months later gives you plenty of time to schedule games for preseason...
I dont see anything good about the highland coach and until someone shows me something good about him he is a bad coach in my book....

| He is the only coach in the Golden League that has not lost a game. |

The HHS coach hasn't lost a game because apparently he doesent want to play any. Apparently they must think they are so good that playing with themselves is better than playing in a tournament.
HHS sure makes it a lot easier for QHHS to recruit all of their athletes, |

They must not recruit too well....
Sounds like excuse making to me.
"After averaging 23 wins over the past three baseball seasons, Quartz Hill is off to an uncharacteristic 0-3 start, but perhaps the Rebels' best days lie ahead because six starters are underclassmen — including twins Jack and Jay Sheely. They're juniors who bat third and fourth in the order, and Jack is the No. 1 pitcher and Jay the starting shortstop.
Another top junior is Daniel Pitts, who is 7 for 10 this season after hitting seven home runs and batting .461 last year.
"We're having a rough start, but we're playing some pretty good teams and we're young," coach Aaron Kavanaugh said." |

QHHS will end up on top I imagine.
Hey but the good news is the KHS Coach/Dad decided to keep the "scrimmage" stats up. Wow next thing he will be getting into a fight with the umpire...geez.
At least QHHS has class. |

| And I thought HS soccer was messed up, you all are well beyond that for sure. I will just enjoy the baseball games and let you folks duke it out on this board. You know who I will be rooting for. |

MUCHACHO,I have an opinion about the Highland coach because I saw what he did at Littlerock when my nephew played for him. I really do hope he starts doing things differently at his new job and doesn't give up on this team when it loses. By the way, I'm not sure who does the game scheduling but I doubt school administrators schedule tournaments in LAS VEGAS. |

Highland plays baseball in Las Vegas, Eastside goes to New Mexico for Track and Field, Quartz Hill travels to Arizona for baseball. These kids like to travel and the teams fundraise for it so it's not like the school pays any more or any less for them to travel. I'm sure the AD has nothing to do with it though. Most AD's don't do much of anything from what I've heard. |
