The volunteer event brought out over 65 people - some as young as 8 years old - to assist in the clean up and painting of the school. Some members of the school staff also participated and their help was truly appreciated.

The school was selected by Coach Tony Rios as the first of many planned volunteer events. Coach Rios met with Principal Eric George and after hearing and seeing the needs of the school, decided that this was a worthy candidate for some TLC. The final details and the gathering of all the volunteers was handled by Coach Rios and Darwin Cook, Director of the Champions Youth Organization. Darwin is a former NBA player and has led several other positive youth groups in California as well as other states.

The Champions Organization seeks to build character and leadership in local youth by not only competing at a high level of basketball, but by volunteering and giving back to the community. In addition, a minimum GPA must be maintained and participation in a recycling program must be observed in order to remain a member of the Club Teams.

The event was extremely successful in bringing a new fresh face to the 6th grade quad area. A sense of pride was felt by all who were involved.

The Champions Club Team Organization wishes to thank all of those who participated and look forward to many more memories and good times as we continue on our crusade to make a positive impact in our community.
