So Cal Stealth Win Berth in National Championship Tourney
So Cal Stealth placed 9th at the ASA 18A State Championship that was held this past weekend at Orange Terrace Park in Riverside California. The event, which was a qualifying tournament to the ASA National Championships, included 45 teams.

So Cal Stealth mercy ruled their 1st round opponent (Newport Riptide) 8-0. So Cal Stealth then went on to beat 3rd Degree 7-0 in the 2nd round of bracket play. In game 3 in the winners bracket So Cal Stealth faced Synergy of Santa Clarita. So Cal Stealth got the 8-5 in 11 innings, which sealed a berth to the Nationals.

In game 4 of the winners bracket Stealth faced the San Diego Renegades. Stealth was ahead in the bottom of the 7th inning 4-2 but let the game slip away with a couple of miscues. The Renegades ended up winning the State Championship. Stealth then faced the Artesia Punishers in the losers bracket and ended up losing 4-3, but So Cal Stealth won a berth to the 18A ASA National Championship being held July 26 - August 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The team acknowledged Kelsey Kapitzke of Tehachapi as their best offensive player for the tournament. Best Defensive player went to Kaci Kelly of Lancaster, and pitcher of the tournament was Marisa Anchondo of Victorville.

The team is coached by Steve Sandberg, Justin Rockey, and Kim Hartwig.

Five Local Girls On Their Way To Nationals
Five local girls and their U12 teams have qualified for the ASA Fast Pitch Nationals in Normal, Illinois. Sophia Reynoso and Taylor Gorski play for the So Cal Rebels, who came in 5th place out of 48 teams in qualifying play at Hemet last weekend. Reynoso is a shortstop, while Gorski is an outfield and utility player.

Justeene Tamayo, Kaila Romero and McKenzie Draper all play for Rancho Cucamonga
Revenge, who came in 7th place at the State tournament. Tamayo is a 2nd baseman, Romero is an outfielder, while Draper pitches and plays 1st base.

Both teams will compete in the Nationals in Illinois in late July.
