The Freebirds Wrestling Club competed in the Greco Roman Championships this past weekend at Mission Oak HS in Tulare, CA. The club returned with one title as well as a 2nd place finish.
Random Miranda took first place at 70 lbs, beating his only competition at that weight. Nick Woslum took 2nd place at 128 lbs, winning 4 matches before losing in the title match.
Christopher Perry (98 lbs), Alex Woslum (95 lbs), and Tyler Warren (215 lbs) all placed 5th. Daniel Gutierrez took 6th at 189 lbs, and Cody Church placed 7th at 152 lbs.
Jacob Perry finished in 8th place in the Junior 112 group, and Tim Broadenax finished 7th at 140 lbs.
Andrew Aunchman finished 3rd at 285 lbs with 2 wins and 2 losses. Aunchman, a student at Lancaster High, has earned a spot on the California State Greco-Roman Wrestling Team and will compete in Fargo, ND, this summer at the Cadet level. He joins Chris Perry, who was selected earlier this year for Freestyle. They are the first ever from Lancaster High to earn a spot on the California State Team.
